About : In-Site Toronto is a series of newly commissioned artworks presented on the portal pages of several wireless internet hotspots in the Wireless Toronto network by artists Jeremy Bailey, Brian Joseph Davis, Dave Dyment, Willy Le Maitre, Fedora Romita, and Swintak. Curated by Michelle Kasprzak, produced by YZO, and supported by Wireless Toronto, Spacing Magazine, and the Canada Council for the Arts.

YZO is a media arts collective committed to the production, development and distribution of electronic media art through net based projects and site-specific public art exhibitions.

About : City As Material was a course devised and led by Giles Lane of Proboscis for students on Vassar College’s International Study Program in London. As part of the course the students each had to research and create an urban intervention project and document it via a Diffusion eBook. Some of the students also chose to use eBooks as part of their project itself (which are linked below). Descriptions of the projects and the research conducted during the course can be found on the course website: cityasmaterial.wordpress.com

About : Critical Infrastructure is a walking/field guide intended for people who, as they move through the built urban environment, want to see and better understand infrastructure – and what stories these systems tell. The project was conceived during my time as an artist-in-residence at The Banff Centre New Media Institute.

Jeff Maki is an artist and researcher based in New York City. Formally educated as an information technology professional in a liberal arts context, his work continues to exist in the arts, centered around technical and social systems. His tools and experience range from computer programming to spatial data analysis; photography to ethnography.
